What is all this scaffolding doing around the area?

You may have noticed large scaffoldings being put up along Marsh Lane, Chequers Lane, Hollybush Lane and Reading Road. Apparently, the 400kV power line which runs from Weybridge to Bramley (the one north of Basingstoke, not near Guildford) is being refurbished over the next few months, pylons are being strengthened and painted, and cables and insulators are being replaced. This should have no effect on our own power supply in Eversley.
However, work is also being done to bury some of the 11kV overhead local supply lines. Three cheers for whoever is doing this. I would mention the names of the enterprises responsible but the chances are they would have renamed themselves before you get to read this - it's all what used to be called the National Grid and the electicity board.
